Rock
The concept begins with a single solid form—this could be a cube, a rectangle, an irregular polyhedron, or even a rock-like mass carved from the terrain. Its size and scale are defined by the project’s programme, while its initial character may be influenced by cultural or historical context, typological or morphological studies, or its urban or rural setting.
From there, the solid (our “rock”) is twisted, shifted and sculpted to transform into a residential concept. Every fragment of the original volume remains part of the final composition. Programmatic needs, site conditions, orientation and landscape are then applied to the design, shaping it into a deeply personalised project that always remains in harmony with its surroundings.
Box
The modifications of the ‘rock’ are being made orthogonally. Shifting, rotating and other transformational movements allow the fractured parts to stay related to each other within the content of the initial solid form. Spaces, cut-outs and planes are expressed as rectangular volumes or boxes. These boxes are placed above, below or beside one another, projecting, staggered or touching. They may form interior rooms or become part of the exterior.
