Villa for an Art Lover

The sculptural upper volume gallery has a guest room, entresol gallery overlooking the large salon, and a secret room, all placed within the pitched roof which rests on the curved transparent open ground floor, creating a harmonious balance between archetype and modernity.

The axis of the house are kept visible, with openings carefully aligned to frame the views to the garden and to the large grand entrance court, which draws an abundance of natural light deep inside the spaces. The entrance court is dramatic featuring a large covered porch area leading to the entrance hall and beyond the grand hall and library featuring an extraordinary wooden spiral staircase. The art gallery links all the main living spaces and the bedrooms in a gentle curve extending the full length of the house.

The interplay of openness and protection creates a home that feels both rooted and contemplative. It is a house where light and nature interchange through the large glass facade to the rear. The open galleried distribution offers dramatic spaces that feel protected but remain connected to the living world outside.
