Woodhouse 2.0
Woodhouse 2.0 is a meditative retreat: outwardly private and intriguing, inwardly open, expansive and light, shaped with a balance of uniqueness and expansiveness. Its design creates a single, continuous ring that from the outside hides a hidden private internal courtyard while opening wide to the surrounding landscape.

Woodhouse 2.0
The exterior is defined by smooth fair faced concrete and shaped vertical timber slats, possibly in shou sugi ban, also known as yakisugi, is a traditional Japanese method of charring wood, typically cedar or cypress, to preserve it. These materials echo the texture and tone of the forest. Outward-facing walls present a calm, solid surface punctuated by carefully placed and beautifully detailed windows that frame long, cinematic views. Inward, the façade becomes entirely curved glass, dissolving the edge between living spaces and the internal courtyard and flooding the interior with natural light.
Inside, symmetry and geometry are subtly explored through the curve of the timber roof and the precision of its structure. A palette of warm wood, polished concrete and soft natural light creates a setting that is both refined and serene. Woodhouse 2.0 is accessed through the gently sloping roof entrance down a spiral staircase or through the basement area, both increasing the intrigue and at the same time increasing security! The interior views are choreographed - expansive to the forest, intimate to the courtyard - light from outside, internally and from above through the circular light wells above each bedroom, enabling light at different times of the day to move across ceilings and walls that bring a sunny calmness. The house is distributed over two levels, the main living level and the basement that houses a large four car garage, laundry, storage and a cinema room. The main ground level has two expansive living areas, one open and the other more cosseted both with fireplaces, and four bedrooms each with its own bathroom.
Woodhouse 2.0 can be configured to the owners’ own land and adapted to a larger scale to meet the exact individual requirements of the owner.
